Pink Orange Cut Flowers
Words by OisĂn:
"These four screenprints of Dahlias were originally to be a sister tripdytch to my Irises of 2023, encouraging mixed hangs of blooms from the two editions. We really pushed the colour combinations and vibrancy of these large screenprints. At the studio, I was so pleased with the colours that instead of three, we've made four editions: a quartet of dahlias!"

Byrne worked closely with Bob Saich at Advanced Graphics, the only remaining screen-printing studio in the UK still using oil-based screens. The studio has produced prints for artists such as Craigie Aitchison, Michael Craig-Martin, and Patrick Caulfield. The resulting screen prints were developed and refined with Byrne over many months, and are hand-printed using eight enormous silkscreens. Each print is made up of roughly fourteen separate hand printings; many colours have been printed more than once to produce the vivid colour these works require, in the words of the artist, âto singâ.
