Husband And Wife by Joel Parkes
These two connect with a brass 'male and female' connection. In a lot of space, they tumble to one another in a cracked and organic dip. The plane is highly figured and so, the context itself is malformed, yet more beautiful as a result. We ripple out of each other in an infinite form.Ā
These pieces take place within the family setting, and the nodal constructs, and objects of mass which hold us in our position in the great galaxy of humanity. Each work takes place within a āplaneā of existence, a context in which these players meet. The stage is set for two characters and their location speaks of the relations between them in the Artists family. The choice of materials and textures, alluding to the nature of the relationships and their effect upon each other. Where attrition becomes smooth, and perfection mirrors the cracked surface of the other, we begin to see our own lives reflected in the poetry and the rendering of the materials, and the placement of the characters.
